Bespoke jewellery

A bespoke commission starts with what you have in mind: a design reference, a stone you love, or a piece you have yet to find.

Working closely with you, our team develops those ideas through the design language of Susana Martins. From engagement rings to individual commissions and jewellery redesign, we explore the proportions, materials and stones that will give your piece its character.

Bespoke Commission

A commission offers the freedom to explore a piece beyond the existing collections. You may have a clear idea of its form, or simply know what you would like it to express.

Together, we consider its scale, the choice of stones and the way it will be worn. These conversations inform the sketches and material options, giving the design a clear direction.

Heirloom Redesign

A piece you have inherited or no longer wear can become the starting point for a new design. The first consideration is what you wish to retain: a particular stone, a detail, or the significance of the original piece.

We explore a new setting or composition around those elements. Photographs help begin the discussion; any reuse of stones or materials depends on their condition and suitability.

03 · Engagement and wedding jewellery

Engagement & Bridal

An engagement ring or wedding band is a personal choice, shaped as much by how it feels as by how it looks. Whether commissioned separately or as a pair, each ring begins with your preferences.

We consider the stone, setting and profile together, paying attention to proportion, comfort and how the rings sit alongside one another. The design develops through those details.

The process unfolds in four stages, from the first conversation to the finished piece.

Discovery

An online consultation establishes the starting point: your ideas, references and what you would like from the piece. Together, we discuss the design possibilities, materials, budget and timing.

Design

Initial sketches explore the direction, balancing your preferences with the brand’s approach to proportion, line and form. The concepts are reviewed together and refined into a clear design.

Development

The chosen design is developed in greater detail. Our team works through the proportions, construction and stone options, with the proposed details and quotation presented for review before production.
