Portugal Masters Trophy
About This Project
Designed in 2007, commissioned by Turismo de Portugal, The Portugal Masters Trophy became the symbol of the golf tournament held every year in Algarve, organised by PGA – Professional Golf Association and The European Tour.
Concept
A dialogue of symbols between Portuguese culture and golf. Inspired by the armillary sphere – deliberately presented in an incomplete manner in order to give protagonism to the golf ball, even when surrounded by Portuguese symbology and tradition. The annulets rest upon the tee and are executed in filigree – thus highlighting the most traditional form of gold and silver work in Portugal.
Description
Entirely made of silver. The golf ball is polished, with a partial satin finish, in order to emphasise the relief. The annulets are made of darker filigree, making use of a time-honoured and traditional technique. The contrasting tones, between the annulets and the golf ball, clearly differentiate the two symbols. The silver tee, with a satin finish, supports the whole and rests on a polished silver base that will subsequently bear the names of the winners.
